Biography

Sa’id ibn al-Musayyib (635–715) was one of the most eminent Tabi’un who lived in Medina. He was known for his profound knowledge of the Quran, hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence. His father, al-Musayyib ibn Hazn, was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ, making Sa’id one of those who met and learned from the Companions. Sa’id ibn al-Musayyib refused to pledge allegiance to Caliph al-Walid I, for which he was punished, but remained true to his principles.
