Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Shihab al-Zuhri was a monumental figure in the history of Islamic sciences. Under the instruction of Caliph Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, he was the first to systematically collect and record the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ in writing.
He was a student of many great Tabi’un and companions, and he became the teacher of Imam Malik. Al-Zuhri was known for his comprehensive knowledge of both the Sunnah and the history of the early Muslim community.
