Biography

Nafi’ was a freed slave of Abdullah ibn Umar. He spent thirty years in the service and company of Ibn Umar, becoming the most reliable transmitter of his knowledge.

In the science of Hadith, the chain “Malik, from Nafi’, from Ibn Umar” is known as the Silsilat al-Dhahab (The Golden Chain) because of its extreme reliability. He was respected for his precision and deep understanding of the practices of the people of Medina.
