Biography

Sa’id ibn al-Jubayr was one of the most learned Tabi’un. Based in Kufa, he was a primary student of Abdullah ibn Abbas. He was said to have possessed knowledge of the Quran that was unsurpassed in his time.

He was known for his incredible memory and his deep insight into Tafsir (Quranic exegesis). Tragically, he was executed by Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf for his participation in a revolt against the Umayyad governor’s perceived injustices. His death was widely mourned by the Muslim community.
