Talha ibn Ubaydullah

Talha ibn Ubaydullah — a noble companion of Muhammad from Banu Taym clan of Quraysh, among the earliest converts to Islam, and one of the ten companions promised paradise. Known for his exceptional bravery and generosity, he heroically defended the Prophet during the Battle of Uhud and was martyred at the Battle of the Camel.

Biography

Talha ibn Ubaydullah was a noble companion of Muhammad from the Banu Taym clan of Quraysh and among the earliest converts to Islam. Known for his exceptional bravery and generosity, he was one of the ten companions promised paradise (Ashara Mubashara). Talha played a heroic role defending the Prophet during the Battle of Uhud, receiving over seventy wounds while shielding him with his body. He was a wealthy merchant who used his fortune to support the Muslim community and participated in all major battles except Badr, as he was on a trade mission for the Prophet. Talha was martyred in 656 CE (36 AH) during the Battle of the Camel

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ لَمْ يَبْقَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي بَعْضِ تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ الَّتِي قَاتَلَ فِيهِنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم غَيْرُ طَلْحَةَ وَسَعْدٍ‏.‏ عَنْ حَدِيثِهِمَا‏.‏

Narrated Abu 'Uthman: During one of the Ghazawat in which Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was fighting, none remained with the Prophet (ﷺ) but Talha and Sa'd.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ،، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ يَدَ طَلْحَةَ الَّتِي وَقَى بِهَا النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ شَلَّتْ‏.‏

Narrated Qais bin Abi Hazim: I saw Talha's paralyzed hand with which he had protected the Prophet (ﷺ) from an arrow.
